NH High School Equivalency (HSE) Preparation

NH Adult Education offers high school equivalency prep and testing for both the HiSET and the GED. You will earn a high school equivalency certificate from the State of New Hampshire when you pass either test.

There are free practice tests/sample questions available online through HiSET and GED. Please note that these free practice tests are different than the Official Practice Test (HiSET) and the GED Ready (GED) required for the age waiver if you are under 18.

Many local adult education centers offer in-person, hybrid, or online high school equivalency preparation classes to help you prepare for either test.

Do I qualify?

Must be over 16
If you are under 16, please talk to your school counselor about your options. If you are over 16 and still enrolled in school, you may be eligible to attend high school equivalency preparation classes through an Adult Diploma Program. Please talk to your school counselor about your options. Students who are 18 or older and not enrolled in school are eligible to attend high school equivalency preparation classes through any adult education center. Choose a location.

Must waive the age requirement if you are under 18
For test takers under the age of 18, you must request a waiver to the age requirement using this form.

Must be a NH Resident or work in NH
If you live in another state, please contact that state’s adult education program.

Cannot be in the US under the Student & Exchange Visitors Program (SEVP)
Please contact your program sponsor for approved SEVP schools.
