Volunteer tutors help adult learners learn or improve their English; become a U.S. citizen; improve reading, writing, or math skills; or improve digital literacy skills. Tutors work with students to help them prepare for the high school equivalency test or for other tests such as a driver’s license, college entrance, or training exam. Tutoring is always conducted at an adult education center, a community center, a library, or another public place. Volunteer tutoring may be as short as a month or for as long as a year or more.
