What does a volunteer tutor do?
Volunteer tutors help adult learners learn or improve their English; become a U.S. citizen; improve reading, writing, or math skills; or improve digital literacy skills. Tutors work with students to help them prepare for the high school equivalency test or for other tests such as a driver’s license, college entrance, or training exam. If you are enthusiastic about tutoring in these areas, please reach out to your local adult education center!
Tutoring is always conducted at an adult education center, a community center, a library, or another public place. Volunteer tutoring may be as short as a month or for as long as a year or more.
